Mrs McGuiness - 6GM

Welcome to our final half term!

Year 6 will continue to revise the four operations and essential mathematical skills, work on their mental arithmetic and speed up their times tables skills this half term. In English we are developing the structure of writing for a variety of purposes and improving reading fluency in preparation for High school. We are learning through the topic of Ancient Greece this half and working on relationship education. In Science we will complete the unit Living Things and their Habitats, and learn about Evolution.

Reminders for Children:

* In 6GM we have PE every Wednesday and Thursday. Pupils will need to come to school in their full PE Kit on these days. No hoodies or jewellery please.

*Sweets and toys (including fiddle toys unless agreed with the school) should be left at home.

* Make up should not be worn to school.

Every Friday, Year 6 are reminded to practise spellings using, their mathematic arithmetic skills and times tables weekly using the websites below. (spelling) (arithmetic) (times tables)

Homework is also sometimes set on Seesaw.

Your child has received logins for all the necessary websites (spellingframe does not require one) which should be recorded in their reading record. If they have misplaced any, please get in touch. Children with any difficulty accessing these at home will be given the opportunity to do so during Wednesday lunchtime.

Thank you for your continued support through to the end of this final year for the children at Poplars. We hope we can have an enjoyable ultimate half term, enjoying learning and getting the children ready for high school. Any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
