Miss Batty - 2ZB

In 2ZB we have PE every Monday and Tuesday.

Pupils will need to come to school in their full PE Kit instead of uniform for the days above.

Welcome back 2ZB!

We have lots of exciting topics planned this year and I am really excited to get stuck in to our fantastic learning!

Reading challenge

Each week, as the children read they will collect a petal which they will stick onto their flower. As the children read, their flower will grow. At the end of each week children who have at least 3 petals on their flower will become a reading champion and will receive a prize. I am sure that you are all amazing readers and will love reading to your parents at home to become champions!

Sound practise

Phonics is a vital part of the curriculum (especially in Key stage 1) as it teaches children the sounds to support with their reading. As this is the case, each week your child will be sent home with a strip of sounds to learn. We will then check their knowledge of these sounds after learning them for a week and will issue new sounds when required. Please encourage your child to learn these sounds at home as it not only supports them with their reading but also writing. There are many different ways you can support your child (e,g, making them into games where they have to find the sound or going on a sound hunt etc). If you need any more ideas to make their learning at home more exciting then please feel free to ask :)

So far this half term we have had lots of fun carrying out experiments. We have explored lots of different mixtures and used our senses to describe them.

We have also been testing which type of liquid would make the best bubbles. We were able to make predictions, carry out a fair test and evaluate our findings.

Any other information you may need or questions you may have, please do not hesitate to ask me and I will help in any way possible :)

Here's to a fantastic year!

Miss Batty :)
