On the 5th March 2013, we received a visit from Monsieur Thorel who teaches in primary schools in and around the town of Béthune, in the Nord-Pas de Calais region of France. The aim of the visit was to initiate links between his pupils in France and our own. He brought with him some letters produced by his current Year 6 pupils and my class worked with a lot of enthusiasm on booklets in French about themselves for me to take back to France in return. Monsieur Thorel said that he really enjoyed his visit to Poplars. He noticed a lot of differences between the French and English school environments, and he was mightily impressed with our pupils' singing, both in English and French, that he heard throughout the morning.
