Miss Spindler's Class

Goodbye Butterflies!

The children have watched our very tiny caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies. They were fascinated to see the process and kept a very close eye on the cocoons to see if they were wobbling last week. We have read lots of stories about butterflies and mini beasts. When the butterflies came out of the cocoons we placed some fresh flowers and orange into the net to keep them happy, allowing us to observe them for a couple of days. The butterflies were soon ready to be released into our garden. We let them out one by one and watched them flutter away. The children are keeping an eye out to see if they come back to visit us.

Sports Day

A big well done to all of the children who took part in our reception sports day! We all had a wonderful afternoon. The children were fantastic and loved taking part in the races, they all cheered each other on and showed great teamwork! Thank you to all of you who came to support the children during this afternoon, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. frown

Wroxham Barns

Reception enjoyed their trip to Wroxham Barns! The excitement started when we first got on the coach, after singing 'the wheels on the bus' and 'old McDonald' a few times we arrived ready to start our day. The children listened really carefully to hear all about being safe throughout the day and what activities we were going to do.

The children fed baby lambs with a bottle, collected eggs from the hens, fed the ducks and Charlie the swan. They watched the pigs being fed and held guinea pigs and chicks. It was a very busy day!

Since our trip we have produced some beautiful writing and read some stories based around farms. We have used the small world area to act out the stories and activities they participated in during our trip.

Spring is nearly here!

The class enjoyed a 'spring walk' around the school grounds. We looked for signs to show us that spring is on its way! We used Ipads to take pictures of what we found and ticked things off our checklist.

Please remember to read at home with your child at least 3 times a week. If a child reads at least 3 times at home they receive a sticker on their book mark. The children are really keen to read at school and to use their phonics to help them. They are all making such amazing progress with their reading! It really does make a difference if they can continue that learning at home by sharing their reading book with you. Not to mention the little bit of competition between the reception classes - We will keep you updated with the amount of readers each week from each reception class. We can win this!

Thank you for your continued support!

This week we have been learning about shapes. We have made shapes using different materials, been on shape hunts, made shape biscuits and created pictures using shapes!

The children are noticing shapes in the environment everywhere they go, even spotting a semi circle in the dinner hall.
